# Fellowships & Awards ## expand\_more #### **FELLOWSHIP & GRANT PROPOSALS:** Below, please find an extensive list of pre-doctoral fellowships that many MCO students have been successful in obtaining. While this not an exhaustive list, there are additional resources at the GSAS Fellowships Office and elsewhere. All applications and fellowships that require an institutional signature must be processed through MCB’s Graduate Programs Finance and Research Administration Manager, [Katie Scrocca](mailto:scrocca@fas.harvard.edu) for review and submission. As always, successful examples of applications from MCO students are available for you outside the MCO Graduate Programs Office and here on the internal website (see link to the right). Katie has also put together an extensive resource guide, which is available in both places as well. **F31 –** If you are interested in applying for an NIH F31 pre-doctoral fellowship, you should speak with Katie Scrocca, MCB’s Graduate Programs Finance and Research Administration Manager. Katie will be able to help you with the application and guide you through the process. Please speak with your advisor whether your research is appropriate to apply for one of these fellowships. **F31 ELIGIBILITY** - Typically, graduate students would apply for an F31 between the G2-G4 year. - You must be a US citizen or permanent resident. - Pre-doctoral students can be supported by NRSA funding for an aggregate of 5 years total. This means that if you are/were appointed to the MCO Training Grant, the number of years appointed will factor into this aggregate. - The F31 has three deadlines each year to choose from, and you should be in touch with Katie well in advance of the deadline **(at least 6 weeks)** if you are interested. - There are two types of NIH fellowships you can consider applying for: 1. **STANDARD F31** – All students are encouraged to apply! Deadlines are April 8, August 8, and December 8: 2. **DIVERSITY F31** – **NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS**. All underrepresented students are encouraged to apply!
