# Vascular Biology Postdoctoral Research Position February 22, 2022 **Vascular Biology Postdoctoral Research Position Vascular Biology and Therapeutics Program Department of Pediatrics** A vascular biology postdoc position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Pierce. Research in the Pierce group focuses on endothelial cell dysfunction in acutely critically ill children. Our work is highly translational and collaborative with immediate relevance to childhood diseases, such as shock, bronchiolitis, acute respiratory distress syndrome. We leverage samples from critically ill children to identify genetic and molecular targets to investigate in cultured primary human endothelial cells and ex vivo perfused organs. Open projects involve investigating the mechanisms of trans- and para-cellular endothelial permeability changes (capillary leak) in primary human endothelial cell cultures. We are seeking highly self-motivated applicants with competence in standard cellular and molecular biology techniques, including human cell culture, genetic, protein, RNA, microscopy and FACS analysis. As a core member of the Pierce lab, you will be expected to work at the bench, interpret data, and troubleshoot experiments independently. Due to the translational aspect of our research, a drive for independent investigation, creativity, and excellent communication skills are required.
