Harvard is full of people, offices, and services built to support you through your time as a student here. We hope this page will help you navigate through the many resources available to you. The types of resources are always changing, and we will do our best to keep this page updated!

  • Bok Center for Teaching and Learning -  From apprenticing for a faculty career to acquiring valuable skills in communication, the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning is here to help you succeed, offering programs and services for graduate students at every stage.
  • Disability Access Office - The Disability Access Office serves as the central campus resource for Harvard Griffin GSAS students with clinically documented disabilities.
  • Fellowships & Writing Center - The Fellowships & Writing Center (FWC) helps students heighten the impact of their research by refining their written and oral communication skills. We work with students in all disciplines and at all stages of their careers through a variety of programming
  • Harvard Griffin GSAS Policies - Policies detail the regulations, rules, and procedures that apply to students, including departmental-specific requirements. Students are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the policies and following the procedures outlined. Harvard Griffin GSAS reserves the right to make changes to the Policies at any time without advance notice.
  • Harvard Library - The Harvard Library includes millions of volumes, serial titles, manuscript items, photographs, archived web pages, and multiple terabytes of born-digital archives and manuscripts. Its resources, services, and staff are accessible online and are available to support students remotely in their coursework, studies, and teaching
  • iThenticate - A web-based application that enables authors to compare their manuscripts, grant proposals, and other writing against web and scholarly publications to check for similar or duplicate content
  • Mignone Center for Career Success - The Mignone Center for Career Success assists Harvard Griffin GSAS students and alumni in preparing for their professional futures through individual advising, workshops, guest speakers, and extensive online resources.
  • Registration and Enrollment - Comprehensive instructions on policies on how to check-in and register each semester in order to remain enrolled as a student.

Health, Wellness, Safety & Support

  • Center for Wellness and Health Promotion - The Center for Wellness and Health Promotion (CWHP) works to cultivate a happy, healthy, and engaged Harvard community through education and the promotion of holistic health.
  • Counseling and Mental Health Services - HUHS Counseling and Mental Health Services provides confidential support to students year-round.
  • Harvard Chaplains - The Harvard Chaplains, a professional community of more than forty chaplains, represent many of the world’s religious, spiritual, and ethical traditions, and share a collective commitment to serving the spiritual needs of the students, faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and staff of Harvard University.
  • Harvard University Police Department: The primary mission of the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) is to maintain a safe and secure campus by providing quality policing in partnership with the community. The HUPD is a full-service police department that includes police officers, detectives, civilian communication dispatchers, and administrative personnel.   • Harvard University Health Services - Harvard University Health Services is a multi-specialty medical practice exclusively for members of the Harvard community.More
  • Office of Alcohol & Other Drug Services - The Office of Alcohol & Other Drug Services (AODS) works to assist students in reducing the negative consequences associated with alcohol and substance misuse/abuse.
  • Office of Dispute Resolution - The ODR provides impartial, professional investigative process for Harvard students, faculty, staff, Harvard appointees, and third parties, particularly for concerns of sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct
  • Office for Community Support, Non-Discrimination, Rights and Responsibilities - The CSDNR Office works with the Harvard community to foster an environment free from discrimination, interpersonal violence, and the impacts of such harm.
  • Office of Work/Life - The Office of Work/Life administers a variety of programs that provide resources for child care, after-school programs, public or private schools, or elder care.
  • Ombuds Offices - Harvard University maintains two ombuds offices that are confidential, neutral, and independent resources.
  • Title IX: Harvard maintains a network of over 50 Title IX resource coordinators who address issues of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, and other sexual misconduct, and work together to carry out the University’s commitment to providing a positive learning, teaching, and working environment for the entire community

  • GSAS Student Center: Stay connected with other graduate students through Center's tremendous social and cultural programming, or get in touch to reserve room space.
  • GSAS Student Groups: Student Groups at Harvard Griffin GSAS greatly enhance the graduate student experience by providing opportunities to connect with a community of students that share common interests and goals. .
  • GSAS Student Services: The Office of Student Services is the GPS for Harvard Griffin GSAS, assisting students who are having academic or personal difficulties in navigating and connecting with Harvard Griffin GSAS, Harvard, and local resources.
  • Financial Aid: The Financial Aid team is here to help you develop a plan that enables you to secure the resources necessary to pursue your graduate education.

Community Support Resources

MCB/MCO

MCB Community Task Force

In academic year 2019-2020, MCB formed a Community Task Force (CTF) to help the department fully realize its mission of achieving inclusive excellence. Comprised of students, staff, postdocs, administrators and faculty, the CTF employs existing quantitative and qualitative research to critically analyze our departmental culture, current practices, policies, systems and structures, and develop evidence-based recommendations and measurable goals for best practices, programs, and initiatives. In addition, we serve as a resource for community engagement, and as a sounding board for ideas and feedback.

Griffin GSAS 

The Harvard Griffin GSAS Culture, Community, and Engagement Office supports students from the time they are prospective applicants, throughout their studies at Harvard, and as they join our celebrated alumni community as newly graduated PhD and master’s degree recipients. The Harvard Griffin GSAS team at the Mignone Center for Career Success (MCS) can help graduate students understand their individual skills, explore a myriad of career options, and apply for opportunities within and beyond academia. Imaging & Printing

Harvard Center for Biological Imaging (HCBI)

All MCB graduate students, including G1s, have access to the Harvard Center for Biological Imaging.  In order to access these facilities, students should complete the project registration form for Harvard Users available at: http://hcbi.fas.harvard.edu/hcbi_registration. For any questions on the membership process, please e-mail hcbi_admin@fas.harvard.edu.

The FAS Division of Science pays the hourly usage fees on behalf of any G1 students that have a need to use the facility as part of their rotations.

Training on the instruments is coordinated by the facility staff.  To request a training on one of the microscopes in the facility, please contact Doug Richardson: drichardson@fas.harvard.edu.  Please note that commercial microscope laser safety training, which is provided by EH&S, is required to use the HCBI. This can be completed online at the EHS website EH&S Training Management System.

  • Please note that the doors are unlocked Monday-Friday 9am-7pm.
  • The HCBI is located in the Biological Laboratories 2nd Floor, Room 2052.
